Beam me up from PC Scotty

There’s a whole load of useless Star Trek merchandise tie-ins on sale right now to coincide with the new movie coming out in the cinema. But the following have to be among the coolest and more useful pieces on offer. Mobile phone firm NOKIA is also cashing in on Star Trek’s popularity with this 5800 limited-edition handset. The device itself is a good mobi but with the addition of content from the new film, it’s the perfect accesory for Trekkies. For a start it works with the XpressMusic service enabling track downloads - although I’m not sure if Spitting Image classic Star Trekkin is on the list. There’s a quality 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss lens, touchscreen and assisted GPS for finding your way around the galaxy. And here’s the cool stuff: Four special Star Trek animated screensavers, three Star Trek wallpapers, eight exclusive ringtones, including Phazer Shot, Red Alert and Kelvin Communicator plus a special Phazer application. It comes in blue, red and black/silver and is free on a new £25 a month contract. But you can only buy it from Phones 4u. Well, like Mr Spock they can also do funny signs with their fingers - you must have seen the TV adverts!
